Red, or flush skin can happen due to numerous reasons. Sometimes we over expose ourselves to the sun, or we feel embarrassed – either way, here are 5 tips that can help keep you the same glossy colour throughout the day.
1. Apply a Cool Compress
A cool compress helps the expanded blood vessels in your body cool down and become normal again. This can help even if you have an underlying skin condition. A cool compress can be made in many ways, and here is one of our favourites.
Place a clean washcloth in a plastic bag filled with ice cubes and leave it in the freezer for about 15 minutes. Then, remove the cloth and gently apply it to the skin for about 20 minutes. Take it off after that and enjoy the results.
2. Wear a Soothing Mask
Sometimes it’s not that we want restrict the blood vessels, but rather we would just like to calm the skin that can happen when the skin is inflamed or red. You can choose to wear a soothing mask from something simple like a DIY Aloe mask, or something from our shop.
3. Dermaplaning Facial with ALGO Mask
Booking a facial is a wonderful way to reduce redness along with stress – killing two birds with one stone. This facial is a deep, non-invasive exfoliating treatment that smoothes and brightens skin, offering immediate results with no downtime. In this facial a sterile, surgical scalpel is used to gently “shave” the surface of the skins. Dermaplaning effectively removes fine vellus facial hair that traps excess dirt and oil leaving you with a delightful, rejuvenated glow. Our GM Collin ALGO mask offers deep moisture and hydration to nourish the skin after this treatment.
4. Avoid Irritating Products
Often times we forget to look deep into the ingredients of the products we decide to use on our body. It’s important to know what you’re putting on because sometimes, it can be making things a lot worse than better. Even if you decided that the products you’re using are fine, it’s still a good idea to use a gentle cleanser daily such as this one from G.M Collin.
5. Wear Sunscreen
A big one we often overlook is SUNSCREEN! Yes, you need it, even in the winter time. The sun is still out and reflects off of the snow, that combined with the intense dry cold, and wind, your face goes through a lot all year round. Of course, we first thing moisturizer, but our next thought should be SPF.
We didn’t mention in it this, but another way to help your skin is to stay hydrated! Some doctors recommend 2L a day depending on what is going on. And of course, remember to eat healthy and well centred diet because loving your body starts within first.
