Sometimes we think going to the spa is something we have to do because we’ve become so accustomed to a fast paced life, but what if I told you there was a way to fully come into the space with an open mind and relax? This blog will show you how to prepare for a perfect day at the spa.
There are plenty of ways we choose to relax, but that one thing we need to make sure of is: are we actually present? Most of the time, we are still thinking about to-do lists, and who needs what, where the kids are or what is due at work but when you invest in a spa day, we want you to feel fully present so you can walk away feeling whole.
First things first, set an intention. The dictionary definite of intention means: a thing intended; an aim or plan, and having one of those before hand is going to change your experience, drastically. Here are some questions to ask to help you prepare:
- What do I intend to leave behind today after my treatment?
- Is there something that has been on my mind that I can leave for now and enjoy this time for me?
- When I leave, what do I want to be feeling?
The second thing to do, is turn your phone off, even if you’re getting a pedicure. Leave it off and enjoy the moment. Turn it back on when you are ready, not when the world wants you to. After that, you’ll be able to really soak in the pleasure and relaxation. If you still need help on feeling pleasure, please visit this page: Removing The Guilt From Pleasure.
BONUS: If you feel yourself drifting into old habits of over-thinking, try this technique. Take a deep breath in, and let it out. On the next inhale, pay attention to where the air hits in your nostrils. Repeat and keep your focus on your breath.
