     Whether you’re a newbie looking to test the waters with your first appointment, or a seasoned pro who knows the routine, we have some handy tips and tricks to make your spa day easy and enjoyable!

 

I’ve booked my appointment… What now?

 

     Firstly, welcome! We’re so happy that you’re choosing to join us.

Before we get into more specific details for various treatments, here are some general tidbits that are great for every visit.

 

  • The time and space is yours – You’re always welcome to come early or stay behind after your appointments and make use of our various lounge spaces.
  • Did you complete your forms? – Most of our treatments require intake forms, which are emailed or texted to you ahead of time. Please complete these forms digitally before your appointment. If you’re unable to do so, please arrive early to complete them in person so your treatment can begin on time.
  • Comfort is key – While you’re here, rock the matching sweatsuit or your favourite sweater. Come as you are and wear what makes you feel most comfortable, especially for days that you have a package booked.
  • Who doesn’t love snacks? – We typically have small snack items available, but for longer appointments/packages, packing a granola bar or some fruit is never a bad idea.
  • What if I have a gift card? – When possible, if you’re using a gift card, please bring your card with you or have the email handy for digital gift cards. Worst-case scenario, we have ways of being able to dig for it in our system if it’s become misplaced or forgotten.
  • Going somewhere after? – While we have a few restrooms to freshen up in, we don’t have any blow-dryers or hot tools available to use. Loud sounds can carry easily in the space and to respect treatments in progress, please refrain from bringing those items with you.
  • Silence is sacred – Your communication preferences matter, if you’d prefer to have minimal chatting or even silent treatments, let us know! We’re never offended and more than happy to enjoy the vibes with you.

Having a Massage?

Bring your insurance information along with you so that we can try direct billing your treatment. We happily offer direct billing to most insurance companies. If you have any questions about who we’re able to bill with, call or email us anytime!

Having a Facial?

For the best experience, we request that you don’t have any facial laser treatments, injections, or hair removal at least 72 hours prior to your appointment.

 **This is especially true for our Renewal and Timeless facials, as well as our Short Protocol Chemical Peel/Advanced Chemical Peel.

Having a Pedicure?

For pedicure appointments, we would recommend bringing/wearing a pair of sandals to prevent any accidental smudges. We have spa sandals to wear during your visit, but we don’t offer disposable sandals to leave in as we try to limit unnecessary waste when possible. We also would recommend wearing bottoms that can be rolled/folded up for your foot soak.

We would like to note that we don’t offer gel polish, however if you have existing gel that needs removing, let us know ahead of time so we can add the removal to your appointment.

** Gel polish removal is an additional $15 and 15 minutes of added time. 

Having a Hammam?

The only important thing to remember to bring along for your Hammam appointment is a pair of swimsuit bottoms/shorts to wear during the exfoliation part of your treatment. If you forget, no worries, we have other options available for you to use. Everything else you may need for the service is provided and ready for you.

We would also recommend to avoid body waxing for 24 hours before and after your service to avoid any unnecessary irritation.

Having a Steam?

Since we hold your steam appointment in an area where you have access to your own steam room, shower and dry space, swimwear isn’t a requirement. However, if you would feel more comfortable bringing it along, you’re more than welcome to, especially if you’re steaming with a guest.

  • Traditional Steams – These are the minimalists of our steams, just you and the warmth. For traditional steams, we would recommend bringing your own towels.                                                  ** We offer towel service for an additional $3/person.
  • Luxury Steams – These steams are the maximalists and you will have everything you need provided.

As you can imagine, our Spa Coordinators spend many hours each day fielding your questions. We love questions! They help us understand what you see, and what you don’t when you’re looking to book an appointment with us at Healing Waters Spa. We decided to take a deeper dive into your Frequently Asked Questions and publish a blog series. (You inspire us!) We hope this series will offer new clients an opportunity to learn more about #HWSYEG and introduce our existing clients to more comprehensive view of our space!

FAQ No. 1“Do you have inclusive sizing?”“I’m a size 22. Do you have a robe that will fit me, or do I need to bring my own?”“I’m plus sized, what do I need to bring with me?”

We acknowledge that fat-phobia exists in our culture, the fallacy that is “one-size fits all”, and that the reality that many spa services often require our clients to undress and vulnerably share parts of their body with a practitioner, who is likely a stranger. Comfort is a core pillar of our mission at Healing Waters Spa and because of this, we have taken a close look at where comfort, in a tangible sense, is sought in our space.Robe Sizes: We offer robes that range in sizes, up to 3XL. We are currently advocating for inclusive sizing to be made available through our Spa Partners at Phytoderm.Wraps & Linens: We use wide linens to dress our tables and have expandable demi-robes for our Facial treatments. Heading into the steam room or receiving a Glow Scrub, Mud Wrap, or Hammam treatment? Our wraps and linens for these services are intentionally wide and can swaddle every inch of our clients, we promise.Spa Sandals: We offer sandals upon entry to all our clients. Sandals are available in women’s sizes 7-10 and men’s 9-11.Chairs: Our pedicure chairs were chosen specifically to accommodate a variety of body types. We test drove these babies! Our deep-seated wing backs are sturdy, real chairs that offer real comfort. Our Manicure chair is a vintage beauty that has a comfortable “armed while being armless” look! Our reception and waiting area chairs are armless.Tables: All three of our treatments rooms have electric tables that are 30″ wide and have a lifting capacity of 432 lbs.

Core Values of our staff: Every BODY is welcome. Each member of our staff goes through an orientation day when they are hired to our team. Believe it or not, this day has nothing to do with our amazing services or hands-on training, but rather it’s an introduction to the core values and the mission of our space. It is our mission to tend to the wellness of our clients. This means we have a zero-tolerance policy for abuse in our space.
